December 2017 - Kids Making a Difference
“We hope these young advocates will continue to inspire both adults and their classmates alike.
”
Madison and her brother, Pike, are both students at the elementary school where my mom works. They are kindhearted, fashion-savvy, and inspiring young individuals passionate about helping underprivileged children across the world.
They decided to participate in Dressember, a non-profit platform channeling donations to combat modern-day slavery and sex trafficking. Their website says, "The dress is our uniform, the flag of our movement. Dressember is an opportunity to reclaim and reappropriate the dress as a symbol of freedom and power; a flag for the inherent dignity of all people."
For the month, they’ve been gracing the halls of their school—Madison in a dress and Pike in a bowtie—to raise awareness and donations for their Dressember fundraising campaign. Madison wrote, "While I love wearing dresses because they make me feel pretty, I am more concerned about the little kids that can't go to school because they are forced to work."
With this donation, I'm excited to support two kindhearted kids, my mom, and an organization with such a noble mission.
You can follow them on their mom's Instagram here.
